CBD & THC vape pens

Vape pens have become popular in the last few years. They are consumed as a cigarette alternative as they are less harmful than smoking tobacco, but they are also used for pleasure. Thus, deciding which vape is the best one to enjoy fresh and pure inhales may be a difficult task.

In order to shed some light and help our customers to know more about the different vapes, we’ve written the present article about the main benefits and differences of CBD and THC vape pens.

What is a vape pen?

Vape pens, also known as e-cigarettes, are electronic devices originally created as an alternative to traditional cigarettes, but with the difference that in vapes you heat the liquid instead of burning the materials as it happens in tobacco cigarettes, which release more toxic compounds than their electronic version.

Nowadays, you can find a wide variety of different vape pens including disposable pens, vapes for BHO extractions, dry herbs or even CBD and THC.

Is vaping safer than cigarettes?

When you smoke tobacco, you are consuming a great amount of nicotine, as well as thousands of chemical compounds which can lead to getting serious diseases such as respiratory problems and even lung cancer.

Otherwise, when you vape the heat will never burn your materials as it only heats the liquids, so you inhale much less toxins and chemicals than smoking cigarettes.

In summary, by vaping you reduce the amount of cancerogenic substances from 80% to just 5%.

Vaping weed

These vaping devices are much more than electronic cigarettes. Apart from being able to vape nicotine, you can use it with other substances such as cannabis (THC or CBD) and flavorings such as oils.

In regards to vaping weed, this item doesn’t burn your herb materials as you do with cones or blunts. In fact, the ideal temperature to extract most cannabinoids with mental or physical effects is around 185ºC (365ºF), and the ideal temperature for vaping should oscillate between 180-210ºC (356-410ºF).

Optimal temperatures

As THC and CBD are the main characters and the subject of discussion in this article, it’s necessary to compare both optimal temperatures in order to take advantage of all their vaping benefits:

  • THC: in order to feel most of the relaxing and euphoric effects that this cannabinoid provides, the ideal temperature when vaping THC should be around 157ºC (314.6ºF).
  • CBD: this perfect temperature to vape this chemical designed for medical uses and that can reduce the paranoid and nervous effects that THC might have, ranges from 160-180ºC (320-356ºF).

How to vape weed step by step

E-cigarettes are convenient, easy to use, and most importantly, they are extremely discreet, which means that you’ll be able to enjoy your herbs anywhere without drawing attention:

  • Grind your plant materials with a grinder for weed or with a knife.
  • Place your herbs into the chamber.
  • In some vapes, you can adjust the temperature. If your device has this option, set the optimal temperature for your extract.
  • Wait a couple of minutes till the vape warms up completely.
  • Now, all you have to do is start inhaling through the mouthpiece and enjoy.

What do CBD and THC stand for?

CBD and THC are both chemicals that can be found in cannabis sativa species. However, despite having the same chemical formula, they are completely different:

  • Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid found in cannabis hemp plants often used in medicine, some drinks or beauty products such as oils or creams as it hasn’t psychoactive effects.
  • On the other hand, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), found in marijuana plants, indeed, has psychoactive effects, and it’s the responsible for the ‘high’ as it has influence in some receptors of our brains that are connected to some regions like the central nervous system (CNS).

Despite their differences, CBD and THC are both an interesting object of research, especially to help patients with critical symptoms in some serious illnesses such as cancer. Besides, in regards to their effects, CBD is commonly associated with relaxation and THC with euphoric sensations. This is not entirely correct, so in order to know more about their effects and benefits when vaping, we’ll explain them below.

Differences between CBD and THC vape pens

When vaping weed, we directly absorb CBD or THC into our bloodstream, which means that this is one of the quickest ways to start feeling the effects of these cannabinoids, depending on the vaped dose.

However, we must take into account some factors that may impact our vaping experience such as the THC/CBD content levels, the chosen dosage and, most important, the effects that these different cannabinoids may have in our bodies.

Benefits

When you consume CBD, this cannabinoid enters our body and helps to regulate the Endocannabinoid system (ECS), which can affect our stress levels, but also alleviate pain. As a result, this can help to promote better sleep, reduce fatigue and even improve focus. It must be remembered that CBD has no direct impact on our mood, as some people may believe.

On the other hand, when consuming THC, this cannabinoid may directly affect our brain, causing the “high” as it binds to the cannabis receptors in our brain, bringing different sensations such as euphoria or relaxation, but this may vary. That’s why this compound is often used in medicine as it can help with some cancer side effects such as nausea, vomiting or even anorexia and weight loss.

Side effects

Despite all the benefits mentioned above, as any other chemical substance, CBD and THC may have side effects after their consumption.

THC side effects are more “mental” as it can provoke dysphoria, hallucinations, paranoia, confusion and even hypotension; while CBD adverse effects are more “physical” such as nausea, diarrhea, upset stomach, tiredness or low blood pressure among others.

Again, CBD is non-psychoactive and THC actually is. You must consult a healthcare provider before using cannabis to treat any medical afflictions; as it is possible that it isn’t compatible with other treatments. Furthermore, its consumption with other drugs can lower or enhance its effects. This article is for informational purposes only, we are not recommending nor inciting the consumption of cannabis.

Is it legal to vape CBD and THC?

CBD is federally legal in the USA as long as it doesn’t contain more than 0.3% of THC as in the 2018 Texas Farm Bill, the commercial production of hemp was legalized. However, though 15 states have legalized recreational marijuana, it is still illegal federally. In summary, all the derived products from CBD are legal as hemp hasn’t got more than 0.3%, which means that they don’t create the typical marijuana “high”.

As we’ve seen above, both CBD and THC are different chemical compounds that come from the same species but from different plants that can be used as extracts in vape pens. Vaping is one of the most popular and recommended ways to use cannabinoids to relieve disease symptoms, and they should be used responsibly and in consultation with a physician.
