The 5 best seeds for indoor growing

The 5 best seeds for grow tent cultivation, a selection of marijuana seeds, both seasonal and autoflowering, that won’t disappoint anyone when planted in their indoor grow. The best of all those we have grown indoors over many years of cultivation, to save you the trouble of trial and error if you want to get ahead or at least get a good harvest without a great effort.

There are marijuana seeds and then there are marijuana seeds, but some prefer certain climates and growing conditions while others prefer different ones. Here we leave you 5 varieties that, even if you don’t have much experience in cultivation, will turn out to be of the highest quality, since they like being grown under lamps and we won’t run as much risk when growing them—such as them growing too tall and reaching the light, or not being able to withstand a bit of heat.

All the varieties we describe below have undoubtedly been the best of many and will be worth your time caring for them day by day to get the most out of them.

The best varieties for indoor cultivation

Power Plant by Dutch Passion

In 2004, I planted this variety on my cousin’s recommendation; he went to Holland and said it’s the only one that knocked him out. When he told me that, it didn’t take me long to buy my feminized seeds of Power Plant and put them in my grow tent. It is supposed to be a Sativa, but the buds it produces look like those of the most indica strains; on top of that, the flowering time is quite short, around 9 weeks.

The funny thing was that as it was flowering and the buds were fattening up, it looked like they had been shaved with a hair clipper set to a number 2; they were hairs that ended flat instead of in a point. Its color was a radioactive light green and its trunks and branches were ultra-resistant. It is a variety that doesn’t grow too much in height; it likes to stay compact, so we won’t have problems fitting about 9 in 1 m² under a 600 W lamp.

Its smell was very strong, one of those marijuana strains you can’t carry in your pocket without it giving you away. Smoking it was very pleasant; its flavor is citrusy and lemony, and when smoked, it leaves an aftertaste in the mouth for a long period of time. Its buds were heavy and dense, as thick as chicken eggs, and compared to some Super Silver Haze plants I had next to them, it was twice as productive.

Some time later, I grew it again and it was the same radioactive green plant, like plutonium from The Simpsons. That’s when I realized it’s one of those that is worth it when we are looking for production in a short time without great care, since they were only fed with Bio Vega, Bio Flores, and bat guano.

You should leave it for about 20 days in the vegetative stage and then switch it to flower; grow it in a 3 L pot and transplant it a week after changing the light cycle to a 7 L pot. With a simple fertilizer plan, you will get a very good indoor harvest.

Tutankhamon by Pyramid Seeds

Another one of the Sativas that flowers early, since you have it in just over 2 months from the moment you change the photoperiod. It is a leafy plant; you can see it from the start when it has been growing for about 15 days. It grows with many side branches that practically reach the eye of the plant; the central tip does not stand out much from the branches.

This variety from Pyramid Seeds is a selection of AK-47, so the buds come out long and thick, very heavy. At first, the arms reach the top, but as it flowers, the branches open up due to the weight and let the light penetrate to the deepest part of the plant; there won’t be a corner without a bud. That is why it is a variety where we cannot put a large number of plants per m² and we have to stick to about 4 per m² under a 600 W lamp. The biggest one I have had so far is 87 g in a 7 L pot, which is the one in the photo with me. When smoked, it is very good; as a smoker, I love that spicy flavor and those buds as hard as rocks, very heavy.

Whenever I recommend it, people end up thanking me; they say that if I hadn’t told them, they would never have bought those seeds because they didn’t even know they existed. That’s why I recommend it to you, so you know it is another one of the plants that will always give us the best harvest indoors with a minimum of knowledge about indoor cultivation. It likes light, and even if you see few plants when they are small, you will understand when you finish the harvest why we only recommend 4. You have to grow them for about 21 days and then switch to flowering, using the same system we always use: grow them in 3 L pots and switch to flowering on day 21; 7 days after the change, we transplant to 7 L pots, and from there until it finishes flowering, it won’t take much more than 60 days. You will be surprised by the result and won’t want to plant anything else; it happens to many people.

Melon Gum by Dr. Underground

Another one of the short, leafy ones, just how we like them for our indoor grow. It is the plant with the largest leaves I have ever planted; they grow giant and point toward the light to receive as much as possible. It grows with the branches quite close to the trunk and they don’t separate much when it finishes flowering, so with about 9 plants per m², we will cover the area without problems.

If it has any downside, it is that it takes a while to make the switch to flowering, but once it starts, it finishes quickly, because even though it starts late, it finishes at the same time as the fastest ones; about 7 weeks from when you see its first buds, it will be ready for harvest.

Another point that also draws attention is the amount of resin it produces from the moment the flowers start to appear, and when it finishes, it makes the bud completely crystallized with resin with candy-like smells. If you have tried those melon-flavored bubblegums filled with sour powder, when you smell the Melon Gum buds in a bag, they smell the same. When smoked, it is earthy like a Skunk but with very sweet touches, which makes it irresistible to marijuana smokers. Another one you won’t be able to carry camouflaged anywhere, as you will be like a candy at a school gate wherever you go. It is the one I have repeated the most times in my indoor grow, as it is one of the ones I like the most for its sweet flavor.

As a plant to grow, it is easy to handle, since it eats well and quickly becomes a strong plant; it won’t leave room for failure. It withstands good doses of fertilizer but you will have to help it with the weight. With a simple plastic stake, you will help it quite a bit to flower, and it will reward you with the fattest buds it can give you. You have to grow it in a 3 L pot for 21-25 days and make the photoperiod change at the same time you transplant it, so the root doesn’t hit the bottom too much before switching. If you don’t do it that way, it can stay smaller than normal; it’s like autos, if they hit the bottom, their growth is stunted.

Do not remove leaves, since as they are so large, it seems like they bother the lower branches, but you will see how, without removing them, the buds under the large leaves grow as large in the shade of the leaf as those in the light; don’t worry about that.

Haze Auto by Dinafem

A variety that, despite its name, does not take 4 months to flower; in 2 months from the time we germinate it at 20 hours of light, we will have our harvest ready. You can fit from 9 to 16 more or less in 1 m²; if you grow in a tent, put 9; if you plant in a room, you can perfectly fit 16 by having more than 1×1 m.

They have a production of about 35-40 g each in 7 L pots; it doesn’t need a bigger pot either. The way to make it turn out well is by following the guidelines in our article on how to plant autoflowering seeds. We will have top-quality marijuana, very hard and with an incense-like and sweet flavor like the purest Hazes. It is completely covered in resin and is very tasty; when you give someone some to smoke, if they are a smoker, they will never say the typical “this is an auto, right?”

It will measure about 70 cm and basically becomes a central cola and 8 branches that are quite productive at their tips, although the branch remains quite bare. It would be good if you help its central cola; you can put a plastic stake so the trunk doesn’t bend, since if we feed it well, it gains a good amount of weight; sometimes you even have to tie the branches. What we like about this plant is the speed with which we achieve production without sacrificing quality. Its cultivation is simple: germinate in a 7x7x9 cm pot and as soon as it has been germinated for 5 or 6 days, move it to a 7 L pot and grow it there until the end.

With a good fertilizer plan, we can squeeze it and get a production like that of feminized plants in a month less than with seasonal feminized plants, ideal for those of us who are in a hurry to smoke.

Sweet Skunk by Sweet Seeds

Another one that likes to be grown indoors; it makes slender plants with large buds on all the tips of the branches, very resinous and tasty. It opens up quite a bit to receive light on the inside, and with about 9 plants per m², we will have a plant/time/production ratio that is more than compensatory for the grower. We will have to follow the guidelines for growing autos to get the most out of them, since like all autos, if we don’t treat them well, they will stay stunted. If we follow the steps well, we will obtain one of the autoflowering strains of highest quality that I have tried when smoking.

Its flavor is earthy, very strong, and distinctly Skunk. When you smoke it, the relaxation is instantaneous and you feel heat throughout your body; it makes you sweat. It is one of those you have to give to those who say that autos don’t get you high, to see if they can distinguish the Sweet Skunk from any other that is not autoflowering.

It doesn’t take more than 2 months at 20 hours of light, and sometimes you would cut it with only 45 days after having germinated it, but you have to have patience and not cut it before 60 days, sometimes even a few days more so it finishes hardening. In return, we will have about 40 g per plant of herb full of resin; even the largest leaves will contribute their resin for your BHO extractions with maximum flavor. Another one that you will never regret growing in your indoor space.

It is also one of the ones I recommend the most, because it is cheap, gives very good quality to the smoker, and on top of that, it is harvested super fast. Ideal for those who smoke a lot and want quick harvests to continue having their daily smoke.

You now have a little guidance on which plant you can place in your indoor space without problems, or at least with the minimum of possible problems, since they grow well, do not get stressed easily, and we will have guaranteed production whichever you choose from the 5 varieties.
