The return of Dinafem: Silent Seeds

The famous Spanish seed bank Dinafem, a pioneer in creating some of the most well-known feminized versions of classic strains, has long been a reference in the industry. In 2020, the company faced legal proceedings that led them to reinvent themselves. Out of this idea, Silent Seeds was born, a new brand featuring some of Dinafem’s legendary seeds as well as the latest genetic innovations. Below, you’ll find all the information about it. 

Silent Seeds: Who are they?

The Silent Seeds project began in 2021. Although it is a new seed bank, Silent Seeds is backed by Dinafem breeders with over 20 years of experience in the field, spanning cultivation, cannabis selection, and the production of feminized strains.

They decided to put their expertise at the service of Silent Seeds, rising from the ashes like a phoenix.

The Dinafem case

On September 15, 16, and 17 of 2020, the Spanish Civil Guard conducted a raid as part of the Inxer-Toro operation, dismantling Dinafem’s facilities. Since 2018, the Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Spanish Medicines Agency and the Ministry of Health, had been investigating irregularities involving Guipuzcoan company Post Sistemark, the owner of Dinafem, Lamota, and Humboldt Seeds.

A total of 14 people were arrested and 8 others investigated. Dinafem was accused of criminal organization, money laundering, and crimes against public health. This led Dinafem and its business model to reinvent themselves.

Silent Seeds: The rebirth of Dinafem

Silent Seeds, Dinafem’s successor, is marked by a rebranding, including a new corporate address in the Netherlands. However, elements reminiscent of Dinafem’s identity, such as the seed logo and inverted ‘E,’ remain present.

Additionally, their new business approach focuses on environmental sustainability, using eco-friendly packaging to reduce their carbon footprint. They offer both a line of classic seeds inherited from Dinafem and a more exotic collection.
