Fans of American cannabis strains will have heard of Jungle Boys, a collective of Los Angeles growers dedicated to creating premium cannabis seeds. Their strains are one of the most famous on the market, becoming an indispensable part of the North American cannabis scene due to their quality cannabis buds and concentrates. In the following, we will offer you more details about the Jungle Boys seed bank and its best seeds and crosses.
History and origin of Jungle Boys
How did Jungle Boys start?
Seed bank creator Ivan Vanorwick and a group of 100 Los Angeles growers with a passion for cannabis started their venture. Ivan is a connoisseur of the cannabis world, having grown up with copies in his home because his mother grew. This interest is what motivated him to seek out the best strains to obtain a high-quality product.
When he started growing, his mother explained everything about growing techniques and pruning to him in order to keep a low profile. Later, his father was diagnosed with high-grade cancer; since neither radiotherapy nor chemotherapy offered satisfactory results, the doctors advised him to try cannabis. It was at this point that Ivan became interested in the benefits of this plant.
Origin of Jungle Boys
In the 2000s there was limited information available about cannabis cultivation, there were very few dispensaries to go to in Los Angele and the quality of the products was not always very good. Therefore, Ivan decided to grow in his garage by installing two lamps. Little by little, he researched and participated in forums to learn more about the plant.
During this stage, he got to know breeders such as Capulator, the creator of MAC, or OG Raskal. In this way, interesting exchanges took place between them to produce new strains. The increase in demand forced him to partner with various dispensaries such as Toluca Lake Collective (TLC) to distribute their products.
Soon after, he opened his dispensary ‘Nature’s Green’ in Santa Fe Springs (California) and his Wifi#43 genetics became well known. However, in 2012 the control of dispensaries became stricter and this one had to close down, although it remained allied with TLC. The following year, in 2013, Ivan bought TLC.
The Jungle Boys now
As the Jungle Boys increased in popularity, TLC grew and settled in downtown Los Angeles offering some of the best strains in the city. Since cannabis has been legal, the demand has grown for both flowers and concentrates for therapeutic and recreational use.
This dispensary prioritises quality over quantity, so periodically they look for new genetics and different phenotypes to cross with.
