The colors of a cannabis plant, just like all its other traits, are determined by its genetics. In this case, Sweet Seeds® worked with Pakistani Hindu Kush ancestral genetics originating from the Chitral region. Naturally, these genetics are also present in Tropicanna Poison XL Auto® (SWS95).

Why The Red Family Plants Develop Reddish Hues

The molecules responsible for these vibrant colors in purple cannabis genetics are known as anthocyanins. They are also found in dark-colored fruits and plants displaying autumn shades. There are many different anthocyanins, each capable of producing different color tones. They can even combine to create beautiful blends of hues within the same plant.

In cannabis, these molecules are present in the leaves, stems, flowers, and even some seeds. Anthocyanins belong to the flavonoid family, compounds that perform several important functions in plants, including protecting plant tissues from external stressors, regulating the transport of the hormone auxin, and releasing aromas that attract herbivores capable of dispersing their spores, among many other roles.

Both anthocyanins and flavonoids possess medicinal properties that are also transferred to cannabis. Tropicanna Poison XL Auto® (SWS95)

It is the feminized autoflowering version of Tropicanna Poison F1 Fast Version® (SWS85), developed by Sweet Seeds® itself. To create it, Sweet Seeds® selected an elite Tropicanna Cookies clone with a red-flowered phenotype and crossed it with its F1. Tropicanna Cookies is a “Super Strong” version of this renowned American genetic.

As a result, Tropicanna Poison XL Auto® (SWS95) is a variety with very high THC levels, reaching up to 24%, along with an equally impressive terpene profile. It is an exceptionally productive plant whose buds become completely coated in resin, delivering outstanding flavors and intense aromas. Among them, a delicious sweet mango-like flavor stands out, blending beautifully with earthy and woody notes over a subtle Skunk background.

Indoors, it can produce up to 550 g/m², while outdoor plants yield between 35 and 125 g per plant.
