Marijuana names: celebrity-named strains

With the large number of cannabis varieties that have been created in recent years, it is not uncommon for many marijuana names to be based on a famous person, whether due to their characteristics or as a tribute.

From singers to legends of the cannabis world, an infinite number of well-known personalities have a marijuana strain named after them. However, while some have taken this tribute as an honor, and have even tried their own varieties, others have not been very amused, which in some cases has led to lawsuits for illegitimate use.

Marijuana names based on celebrities

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is arguably the most famous marijuana smoker in the world. Cannabis has accompanied the legendary rapper throughout his entire career, being the main reference in his songs: “Smoke weed every day” is one of his most recognized lyrics and is practically an anthem among cannabis users.

Therefore, it is not surprising that there are various strains that bear his name. Among them, the most famous are Snoop’s Dream (a hybrid between Blue Dream and Master Kush with relaxing effects) and Snoop Dogg OG (a mix between Lemon OG and Sour Diesel that boosts creativity and concentration). However, there are many more, such as Snoop Triple OG or Snoop’s Punch.

Michael Phelps

Shortly after breaking the record for gold medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games (Beijing 2008), and being praised by almost everyone for his strength, effort, and talent, Michael Phelps was caught smoking from a marijuana bong at a college party.

This event turned applause into boos, as in 2009 the legal and social situation of marijuana was not what it is today. Jack Herer

One of the best-known and most respected varieties is the Feminized Jack Herer from Sensi Seeds.

Charlie Sheen

The well-known actor from Two and a Half Men, always controversial for his party-loving and contentious character, gives his name to a sativa variety that reaches up to 24% THC. This hybrid between Green Crack, OG Kush, and Blue Dream generates euphoria, laughter, and happiness, making it perfect for nights with friends (according to the dispensary).

As it could not be otherwise, Sheen asked to try it and was delighted with its quality. In addition, it climbed rapidly in sales and became one of the most consumed varieties in the United States, especially in Denver and California.

Tom Cruise

This variety, called Tom Cruise Purple, has very high levels of THC and is famous for the side-splitting laughter it causes. Bin Laden

More than a variety, Bin Laden has become a term of its own within cannabis slang: “I’m smoking a Bin Laden.” This expression is used when the marijuana is extremely potent.

As for the varieties with his name, the best known is Gelato Bin Laden, which contains approximately 20% THC and has medicinal and relaxing properties.

Chuck Norris

This strain, named in honor of the actor and karate champion Chuck Norris, is a high-potency indica variety that can reach up to 28% THC. Its effects vary between euphoria, happiness, energy, and even concentration.

The NBA (National Basketball Association) is one of the associations that most defends the use of recreational and medicinal marijuana, so many legends of the league have strains in their honor.

Bob Marley
