Cannabis Used to Treat Cancer

Using cannabis medicinally is a subject that is being investigated right now and although we don’t know the absolute full extent of its uses, we can confirm that cannabis really is beneficial when it comes to treating certain types of illnesses. Today we’re going to talk about cannabis as a method of treating cancer, an effective and revolutionary system with which patients can fight back, as well as serving as relief for many of the symptoms caused by traditional treatments.

It’s already known that cannabis is extremely effective against cancerous tumors, although these results haven’t been officially tested on people but the tests done on rats and mice are extremely promising.cancer cell photo

Uses to fight cancer:

It’s been proven that cannabis has the capacity to cause cellular destruction, block cancerous cell multiplication and completely put a break on the growth of blood vessels, all three of which are used by tumors in order to grow. This is how cannabis directly attacks tumors’ cells and stops their capacity to continue developing. It’s also worth mentioning that only harmful cells are attached by the cannabinoids, and the rest of the cells remain intact.

Some studies claim that if you use CBD along with chemotherapy, cancer cells get weakened. More recent studies state that CBD combined with THC in an exact proportion offer even more benefits, making cancerous cells even weaker while also reinforcing normal cells.

In the fight against liver cancer it was discovered that THC has the capacity to hurt and destroy cancerous cells. It was later discovered that it had the same results on lung cancer, which is currently being studied.lung photo

It’s also known that when it comes to breast cancer, you can find cells that have positive estrogen receptors and cells with negative estrogen receptors. In a study made through CBD, it was proven that the results were extremely beneficial in as far as destroying both of these cells, whereas it wasn’t as effective on non-cancerous cells. There are doctors and scientists that state that if CBD was studied on a more profound level, cancer could be treated almost entirely by using CBD.

Beneficial effects on chemotherapy:

All regular smokers know that weed makes you hungry, which is why most of our customers enjoy a good joint before lunch or before dinner. Chemotherapy tends to leave its patients weak and not wanting to do anything, as well as causing nausea and closing up the stomach. Marijuana is also extremely useful in fighting nauseas and getting sick, due to the fact that it acts directly upon the cells that cause those issues, lowering the possibility of feeling or getting sick; marijuana directly helps with loss of appetite, stimulating the stomach and reducing the risk of vomiting.

Chemotherapy also attacks its patients’ humor and mood, causing depression in a lot of cases; this is another nasty side effect that can be treated with cannabis; depending on the combination of cannabinoids that patients’ intake, marijuana can improve moods and make its consumers feel more active and social. Many different strains have the capacity to stimulate talking, imagination and many other senses, notably improving the consumers’ general mood and humor.

New uses when it comes to CBD for pain-relief are constantly being discovered. Pain caused by chemotherapy is one of the major uses of CBD, giving even better results than products like morphine. In a study in which 21 patients with chronic pain were treated, it was discovered that vaporized cannabis combined with morphine has the necessary power to alleviate even the strongest of pains. Apart from reducing on opiates, this method also reduces second effects like withdrawal symptoms.

Conclusion:

Even though all of this information is available to us, the US (the model country when it comes to medicinal marijuana) still hasn’t recognized cannabis as a possible method to treat cancer, and it’s most likely that it will be a while before these kinds of treatments are approved. However it’s easy to find Dronabinol or Nabilone in the US, two synthetic cannabinoids that supposedly recreate the effects of THC and CBD.

We don’t know how long it will take to regulate this kind of medicine, which is disappointing seen as it’s a topic that is literally life and death to thousands of people around the world. Once cannabis turns into as lucrative an industry as the pharmaceutical industry, we’ll be able to find out its true properties and consume it freely.
