Description

The Secret Smoke 5-Ton Hydraulic Rosin Press is an essential tool for Rosin extraction enthusiasts. You'll achieve a great return from your herb, around 10-20%, much more than what you'd get at home with a hair straightener. If you use dry sift hash, for example from the Secret Box, you can get up to an 80% return.

The Rosin technique extracts oil by applying pressure and heat to your herb or hash, causing all the oil present in the material to be pressed out to the edges. You'll get a concentration similar to BHO in terms of texture, but with much more flavor, as it preserves terpenes much better.

Another advantage of Rosin extractions is that you won't use any solvents, gas, or alcohol, resulting in a very pure concentration of cannabinoids, without any contaminants or toxins.

Operating the hydraulic Rosin press is quite easy. You just need to select the temperature you want for the pressing plates, which is adjustable degree by degree, and the time you want to press your material, adjustable second by second. While it heats up, prepare your herb or hash and the necessary materials for the extraction. You'll need to use a nylon filter for Rosin; if it's herb, use a 120-micron filter, and if it's hash, use a 37-micron filter.

Once everything is ready, place the material to be pressed between the plates, and using a crank, apply pressure. With this press, you can apply up to 5 tons of pressure without a problem, achieving great returns. In about 90-120 seconds, your extraction will be ready.

This press is an indispensable tool for consumer associations, especially those with medicinal users among their members, as they will have a clean product free of toxic residues, given that BHO of poor quality and with butane or solvent residues is often offered. Furthermore, extractions will be done quite quickly, as you can fit more than 10 g between its plates.

Now we're going to show you the step-by-step operation of the press, so you won't have any problems using it at home.

How to use the Hydraulic Rosin Press

  • You can make marijuana or hash extractions. Hash does not require prior treatment, but if you're using marijuana, you'll need to remove as many leaves and stems as possible, leaving only the flowers.
  • One thing to keep in mind when making Rosin extractions from marijuana is that it should not be too dry. If your herb is too dry, you'll get very little return, so you need to humidify it until it has a soft consistency, like when it's in the curing process. The best way is to put it inside one container and then inside another container with water, which you can cover. In about 30-60 minutes, your herb will be ready for extraction.
  • The next step is to place the material to be pressed inside Rosin Nylon Filters; if it's herb, use the 120-micron filter, and if it's hash, use the 37-micron filter.
  • Prepare a sheet of Rosin paper, cutting the necessary piece so that it fits widthwise in the press without a problem. You need to make some folds, one folding the paper in half to define the bottom and sides, so that no resin escapes from the sides or the back of the press.
  • Once all the material is prepared, turn on the 5-Ton Rosin Press using the On button in the center of the control panel, and you'll see two screens light up. Each screen corresponds to one of the metal plates of the press.
  • Pressing the SET button once, you'll see that you can select the temperature degree by degree (SP), and if you press it again, the pressing time will appear second by second (ST). After several tests, we have determined that a good temperature is 100°C, and a good pressing time is 120 seconds. Once you have set the desired values, hold down SET until it returns to the main screen. Set the same configuration on the second screen.
  • If, while on the main screen (without the numbers flashing), you press the SET button for a few seconds, you will enter a Submenu, where you can select the temperature hysteresis. If you set 5 degrees of hysteresis and the plate to 100°, it will go up to a maximum of 105° and down to 95°.
  • It will heat up slowly, as it heats the entire plate quite uniformly. While it heats up, we will prepare our press for use. On the hydraulic part, you will see a lever, with which we will apply pressure to the plates. Below the lever, you will see an arrow pointing to a screw. This screw must be loosened while using it, and we will tighten it again when we finish using the press. It simply serves to prevent hydraulic fluid from escaping while moving and transporting it, but when in use, it must be loosened to allow air in and out. Keeping it loose is enough; if we remove it completely, we will see that when we release the pressure, it will splash, so it must be left in place, but loose.
  • Another thing we need to pay attention to is a wheel-shaped key on the side of the hydraulic system, which serves to close or open the flow of hydraulic fluid. We will have to turn it clockwise to close it, and make sure that when we operate the crank, the pressure increases. If this key were open, the plates would not come together. Once the pressing is finished, we will turn it counter-clockwise, and we will see how the plates lose pressure and separate.
  • Once everything is prepared, we can proceed with the extraction. Place the Rosin paper between the plates, and your filter with the herb or hash between the paper and well centered on the plates (2 bags/filters fit perfectly). Press with the lever until you reach 5 tons. You will see the pressure on the manometer in PSI; this is equivalent to kg of pressure. 7,000 PSI is equal to 5,000 kg of pressure. While pressing, it will gradually lose pressure, which you will have to compensate by pressing while making the extraction to maintain it at 5,000 kg.
  • Once you have the pressure, activate the timer countdown by pressing the round button located between the screens, and you will see it start counting down. Once the time reaches 0, an alarm will sound, notifying you to loosen the plates.
  • Turn the wheel located on the side of the hydraulic system counter-clockwise, and the plates will separate. Remove the filter with the herb or hash from the paper, and let the resin cool. Once cool, it will be easy to peel it off the Rosin paper with the help of a dabber. You will stick spots or scrape, and gather the pieces into a single ball, sticking it onto another clean Rosin paper.
  • Once the process is finished, your extraction will be ready for consumption, although we recommend letting it dry for about a week to lose any moisture and achieve a consistent and hard texture. It can be consumed like any other BHO extraction, in a pipe, vaporizer, in a joint, or by mixing it with olive oil and taking it in drops.
