I understand that the option of a mycelium cake is included to have a specimen to study and reduce the learning curve, but this kit could equally be bought with a spore vial (which would need to be inoculated into a substrate) or with a spore print (which would need to be put into solution to be inoculated into a substrate).

I've already had two harvests from this kit and honestly it went great. The mycelium colonised super fast. On the second flush I noticed some mushrooms were getting a bit darker, did that happen to anyone else? But overall, I'm very happy with the results.
