Description
What are Jiffys?
These Jiffy Peat pellets allow you to plant your seedlings and clones in an airy substrate, which makes for fast root growth and incredibly strong plants. They’re great for preparing small plants for their first big transplant.
These peat pellets come in diameters of 41 and 44 mm, fully compact and dehydrated; they’re super easy to prepare, although if you don’t follow the instructions properly you may end up damaging your seeds due to excess humidity.
How to Hydrate a Jiffy
You’ll need to fill a container with water and place your pellets inside – make sure they’ve completely covered in water. Wait for about five minutes and they should have fattened up to their proper shape. Now, here’s the important part; you need to squeeze all excess water out of each jiffy before you insert your seed or clone. If you don’t do this, excess humidity may fully rot your seeds and you could simply lose them before you even get started. Don’t be scared to squeeze them hard – you can reshape them after with your hands.
Once your pellets are humid and in the right shape, you can germinate your seeds in them, even cheap seeds that can be hard to germinate. If done wrong, the jiffy should look way too dark and end up dripping water.
How to Care for Jiffys
Over the next few days your peat pellets may begin to dry up, which is totally normal – simply spray them using a 1 L spray bottle once they’ve dried up. Less is always more, and you should never overwater these pellets, as they can easily begin to rot. Many new growers water them full on using a watering can, and that is a really bad idea. Always spray them and use your spray bottle sparingly.
How to Plant Cannabis Seeds using a Jiffy
You should place your seeds about 2-5mm into the pellet. When planting your clones, they shouldn’t move once you’ve put the stem in, so you’ll need to squeeze the pellet a bit around the stem of your cutting.

I had never bought such large peat pellets before, but honestly they aren't bad at all because now for outdoors the moisture lasts quite a while... since I'm used to leaving the seed in the peat pellet for a good while after germinating until the roots pop out the sides or bottom
